LuciusFirst of all: rude.
The shitty big brother she never wanted or asked for. Or even wants currently. Much like an actual big brother in that sense. Also like a big brother, despite her teasing and not-infrequent harassment of Lucius, hurt him at your own peril. In private she’d admit that she appreciates his steadfast company, and the fact she can always come bitch at him. But hell will freeze over before she admits it to Lucius himself.
Well, of course it's going to sound stupid when you say it like that!
They say that people who are the most similar are the people who fight the most, and unfortunately Skulduggery and Darcy are un-living testaments to this. The course of their friendship is littered with fights that are mostly their own damn faults, and moments of connection that few else on the ship could relate to. Having managed to withstand a major betrayal, Darcy remains devoted- if mistrustful- to the first among her father figures on the ship, and her oldest friend in this alien world.
Let's pretend I never said that and try to move forward.
Darcy’s first girlfriend, now in the past tense. She wanted more from her life than being a child soldier, and Darcy doesn’t want others dictating her life. Time will tell if the relationship can be recovered, or if the two of them are going to need to be very creative in avoiding each other on such a small ship.
It's never bad to meet an ally — and a soldier — in times of war.
Their first meeting was the start of a suicide mission to rescue people trapped and fighting to the death, their second was discussing how to make the Captain bleed, and their third was an interrogation/bullying session. Honestly, things are going how they started. Neither really trusts the other, but they’ve reached an uneasy truce recently. Even if Clarke is, as Darcy puts it, ‘a snake’, both seem to know that an alliance benefits them both for the moment.
Wouldn't want to live forever, anyway.
Kind of like two stray cats, Natsuno and Darcy aren’t necessarily close, per se. But there’s a mutual respect of space and privacy after the initial embarrassment that Darcy at least has come to appreciate. Sometimes it’s nice to be low-key and muted with someone without them worrying after your wellbeing. Life sucks and then you die.
there was so much blood and pain and crying, i didn't think big hero shit would look like that
The Arcade King. After a rocky start where he punched her girlfriend and then Darcy punched him, slowly slowly like a stray dog learning to accept pets, Vance has warmed to her. Trusted with information about his life back home and tasked with keeping an eye out if his death starts catching up with him. Initially it was just duty to the dead, but the friendship between two dead kids is something special.
I'd rather not have a third ass-kicking by you slotted in my schedule.
A fellow competitive gremlin, neither probably know how deep their similarities run just yet. Maybe if Darcy practices what she preaches and reaches out, they’ll find comfort in being black sheep and the cruelty that their circumstances required of them. For now, it’s all amicable ass-kicking and DDR tournaments that they take way, way too seriously.
'S why we just gotta find good company that makes it all bearable, right?
Dying and coming back might be the norm aboard the ship, but finding someone else with some experience dying and coming back and coming back again prior to their arrival is a rare gift. Phil is a source of deep comfort and assurance, someone Darcy can go to when she needs to sort her feelings out. Keeping him alive is one of the many duties she’s taken upon herself; and her failure to do so weighs on her more heavily than it does some of the others.
Yeah, and I got to carry around a tacky fish that sang 'don't worry, be happy' at me while I decided to bury myself, but you don't see me being all grumpy about it.
Due to Ava and Undine’s connection, Darcy had been forced into at least trying to be amicable with Ava. Now having forged a stronger friendship through shared experiences and esteem for Skulduggery, it’s still not a relationship free of troubles or awkwardness. But Ava is increasingly someone Darcy knows she can rely on, even if asking for help remains difficult.
Prove yourself and I can see the future for you
A pair of hungry half-feral guard dogs, Darcy probably has more respect in the pure authority sense for Izzy than most aboard. Respect for his skills, of course, but respect for him as someone older and wiser, as someone who has had to work for every single scrap he’s ever got. More than just idolisation, Izzy is already someone who Darcy intends to model herself on, and she’s eager to prove herself to him.
I'd have made the same mistake ... it seems we're kindred spirits, of a sort.
Her brother by choice, Dimitri is Darcy’s closest friend aboard the ship and her trusted confidant. They’ve defended each other, been by each other’s side through sleepless nights, and she loves him. Seeing the reality of what the tragedy of his past did to him did not shake her loyalty. Now all they need to do is keep being there for each other, and refusing to let their own troubles drag them back into the dark.
Thank you, for doing that.
Dimitri’s… vassal, and therefore a friend of Darcy’s. He’s big and quiet and doesn’t ask stupid questions, doesn’t ask much of Darcy at all. They bonded quickly over mutual concern for Dimitri, but as Dimitri’s mental health worsens and he pushes Dedue away… her loyalties may be tested.
I'm glad you're proud and I'm happy you're watching me.
There’s so few places for sweetness and softness aboard the hell-ship they find themselves on. Fio’s presence is both a tragedy and a blessing, a sign of all the reasons why they need to stop the Captain and one of the more pleasant parts of life aboard the Serena Eternia all at once. Darcy’s an only child in her own world, but she’s quietly relishing the chance to be a big sister here to Fio; and though there’s many aboard Darcy would choose to die for, Fio is the only person so far who she’s chosen to live for.
I, nor anyone else, is capable of saving every single person there is to save.
Peter and Darcy got off to a superbly terrible start. Forced into conflict repeatedly over their shared concern for Undine, eventually- again- they’ve found that their similarities outnumber their differences. At their core is a shared understanding of duty, a care for others in spite of what they’ve experienced, and of course, a shared talent for fencing and boxing. Hopefully their tenuous peace will last.
The world...was beautiful, then. And I wanted to be part of it.
To say that Erin and Darcy get on like cats and dogs is an understatement. A more apt description would be Sodium metal and water; incredibly explosive and volatile whenever they meet. In many ways they’re too similar, and in others, they’re too different to allow for real understanding. Any peace between them is temporary, and both sides surely hear the phantom clock ticking down to the next detonation.
Can you even begin to fathom what you thought to threaten me with? Do you understand?
A long-standing antagonism mixed with curiosity and tentative hope of understanding has burned to an outright, uncomplicated hatred. It was, as many things are, solely Darcy’s fault. Nevertheless, any goodwill he may have amassed by the small acts of charity extended towards her has fizzled out. She believes him incapable of caring about anything other than himself, despite evidence to the contrary. And he’s NOT HER REAL DAD, SKULDUGGERY.
